Troop 4 Welcomes 9 New Scouts!

Troop 4 is so excited to welcome 9 new scouts to the troop! We are thrilled to have received a brand-new scout last week who will join our Pickle Patrol! We also were able to attend Pack 71’s Blue & Gold Banquet where we received 8 crossovers from Pack 71’s AOL den, the Pancake Patrol. We are looking forward to the adventures to come with our new BSA Scouts! Welcome!

Troop 4’s Newest Scoutmaster

We would like to welcome Dale Winkler as Troop 4’s newest Scoutmaster. Dale Winkler has been active with BSA Scouting for over 20 years, starting as Cub Scout and progressing all the way to the accomplished rank of Eagle Scout. He has been a fixture in Milford Scouting for last 10 years starting as Den Leader and then Cubmaster for Pack 4 and then serving for the last several years as Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 4.

Mr. Comisky stepping down as Scoutmaster

Scouts/Parents,

I personally wanted to let everyone know that the time has come for me to hang up the old backpack and step down as Scoutmaster.  Other matters require my full attention and time commitment and so I won’t be participating in any more troop activities.  It’s been my pleasure to serve as Scoutmaster for the last 4+ years (and Committee Chair for years before that) to help ensure that the Troop 4 program maintained its roots.

My best wishes as you continue to navigate your scouting journey.  I’m sure I’ll see you around.

Sincerely,

Mr. Comisky/John

2024 Off and running…

The troop has resumed activities after a short break. Thank you to all who helped out with the Christmas tree pick up. Much of January has and will continue to focus on some rank advancement work. Scouts need to make sure they do their best to follow through on any requests and attend scheduled meetings if they desire to advance in time for the next Court of Honor. Also, please be on the lookout for additional information regarding the Troop’s primary fundraising event – our annual Pancake Breakfast which is fast approaching.

Troop dues and BSA Medical Forms

Troop dues and medical forms are due no later than the October 12th troop meeting.

The combined troop and re-charter dues have increased to $195 per scout ($175 for siblings). This fee combines the Troop Dues; the annual BSA National Registration Fee; and the Mayflower Council Activity Fee*. The increase is due to announced increases in annual BSA National Registration and Mayflower Council Activity Fees.
Please drop off your check at the start of the troop meeting. Dues may also be sent to Mr. Chris Abbiuso at 16 Stoney Brook Lane, Milford, MA 01757. Please make all checks payable to Troop 4.
*If anyone is under hardship and would like to pursue it, there is a Mayflower Council Activity Fee Waiver application, for the $48 that goes to Council. Mayflower Council Activity Fee Waiver Application (google.com)
Everyone must submit completed medical form – Part A & B. Part A is an informed consent, release agreement, and authorization that must be signed by every participant (or a parent and/or legal guardian for all youth under 18). Part B is general information and a health history.

Welcome Back – 2023-2024

Dear Parents, Scouts and Families,

It’s hard to believe summer has come and gone, scouts are already back in school and the new scout year is upon us!  I hope this note finds you and your families well.

Please be on the lookout for an email which contains a lot of important information regarding the upcoming scouting year.

We will resume our Troop meetings on September 14th with a 7:00PM start time at St. Mary’s.

See everyone soon.

Troop 4 summits Mt. Katahdin

A group of scouts and leaders from Troop 4 took on Mt. Katahdin recently. Slick conditions presented unique challenges, but the group proved to be resilient and reached the summit, Baxter Peak, early morning. The group also enjoyed canoeing whitewater in the Matagamon Wilderness next to Baxter State Park in completing a 50 Mile Trek. Additional photos from Katahdin and the entire Maine High Adventure Trip can be found under the photos section.
